Styling the basics: the white shirt

Hi, sweet Ladies (and girls) as per your kind suggestion to my instagram poll, I know I shall go on with the “styling the basics” series. Today we’ll feature again a white basic.
The white shirt, especially in autumn, is versatile, crisp and comfortable, especially if it is of an “appropriate” fit. I advise you not to opt for a shirt that is too loose or too baggy, because it would not be as versatile.
What we will see in the 5 different outfits is actually a very old white shirt. It is probably ten years old, but as you will see if you take good care of your clothing and choose a timeless piece, it will last for years in your wardrobe. Staple brand here is Brooks Brothers.

Casual
This is an outfit, that you can pull out as soon as the temperatures will drop.
The shirt is combined with a pair of blue denim, cropped, kick-flared jeans (@drc_repinis – a local boutique). The belt is from Zalando on sale now, perfect on denim. If you want it… hurry up! 18Eur only), the suede tan sandals are from the 4th – reckless. On the shoulders, the classic leather jacket again in a tan shade from Stefanel (old) and bag by @drc_respinis my faithful local boutique.
I shop a lot online but I’ve my faithful local places where to go and find special and unique pieces to make my looks unusual and different.
Smart
The second outfit can be a perfect informal working outfit.
The withe shirt is paired with khaki pants by Tommy Hilfiger on Zalando (again on sale now, perfect for Autumn transition). Crossbody black clutch from a local boutique. Black pumps from Sam Edelman on Nordstrom (they come in a zillion of different colors and they are so comfortable). Gucci belt to elevate the look and black blazer are completing the look
Black skirt
The third outfit is a classic: the shirt is combined with another basic, a black skirt A-line, the same black pumps (see above), and a perfect 2-in-1work bag (cross body&back pack) from Henry Bendel (sic, sorry to feature pieces that you cannot anymore). A black sleek belt with gold details is pulling together the look.
The principle here is to inspire you to look in your wardrobe and recreate not exactly this look but to give new life to something sitting in your wardrobe, not going out and shop for something new!
Important: the black skirt is a Basic. You need to look for a piece that is figure-flattering. For example in my case A-line is perfect, body-con instead will not help 🙂 me.

Preppy
The fourth look is inspired by back to school time. Simply button up your skirt under a little black dress. Pointed black flats and the same black bag as above from Henry Bendel.
Trendy
….And to close the post in the final outfit I’m featuring a leopard skirt. The 2019 Autumn-Winter trends are confirming that this is a “classic-trend”. This skirt is by Realisation Par and is called the Naomi Wild Skirt.
New buy, quite expensive but I choose it because is not in an “in your face” print. The hack here is to tie your shirt in the front and pair it with black pumps and a black cross-body bag.
